The Capitol Skating Fund is part of the Washington Figure Skating Club and therefore is a registered 501(c3) non-profit public organization. First established in 1989 as the Washington Figure Skating Education and Development Fund (WSFEDF). Our initial fund came from our share of the proceeds from sponsoring the USFSA 1989 National Championships in Baltimore. In 2003, the WSFEDF sponsored the World Figure Skating Championships in Washington, DC and added the proceeds of that event to our original fund.
In 2006 we changed our name to Capitol Skating Fund to reflect our enhanced mission and capability through the Fund’s presence in the Capitol region including the Washington metropolitan area of the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland (DMV).
Now in 2020, the Capital Skating Fund has joined the Washington Figure Skating Club (WFSC), the largest and one of the oldest figure skating clubs in the USFSA. A WFSC/CSF select committee continues to meet bi-annually to award grants and support to skaters and skating organizations throughout the DMV
