The Capitol Skating Fund is a non-profit public organization, first established in 1989 as the Washington Figure Skating Education and Development Fund (WSFEDF). Our initial fund came from our share of the proceeds from sponsoring the USFSA 1989 National Championships in Baltimore. In 2003, the WSFEDF sponsored the World Figure Skating Championships in Washington, DC and added the proceeds of that event to our original fund.
In 2006 we changed our name to Capitol Skating Fund to reflect our enhanced mission and capability through the Fund’s presence in the Capitol region including the Washington metropolitan area of the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland.
The Fund is managed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of local figure skating enthusiasts, including national and international officials, skaters and skating parents. We represent decades of experience in figure skating and have a vested interest in the growth and development of skating in the Washington region.
